High speed cycling action returns to the streets of downtown Silver Spring!

Don’t miss the third annual Silver Spring Grand Prix, sponsored this year by DrinkMore Water, held on Sunday, July 22, 2007.

With over $12,500 in cash prizes, the event draws top professional and elite cyclists from around the country. Marty Nothstein of Olympic Gold fame won the Men's Pro/Elite race in 2005 and this year brings a new crop of fast and furious racers vying for the top prizes.

This is an exciting event for the whole family with plenty of great viewing spots along the closed road circuit and a free kids race for age groups from 3 to 11.

A “carbon neutral” event

Thanks to a generous donation of renewable energy credits from Silver Spring green energy broker Clean Currents, the carbon emissions attributable to the DrinkMore Water Grand Prix will be measured, certified, and then offset.

As such, the DrinkMore Water Grand Prix will be carbon neutral and among the first of its kind in cycling history, as well as one of the first two carbon neutral events put on in downtown Silver Spring--the second being the highly popular AFI/Discovery Channel Silverdocs Documentary Festival.

Kids race free during the Kids’ Helmet Races, sponsored by Signal Financial Federal Credit Union. Children aged 3 to 7 race 200 meters down Ellsworth Drive and the 8 to 11 age groups will race one lap around the Pro circuit!

Signal Financial's generous event support will provide up to 200 free kids’ helmets and free t-shirts to all children entering the event.
